Aging is something many of us wish we could slow down or avoid altogether in our lives.
But in sims 4, we often wish we could move our sims faster along their lifespan.
And sometimes you also want to keep our sims loved ones around for a little longer.

Sims 4 Age Up Cheat
If you don’t plan on waiting for your sim to age up naturally, there is a cheat code to cut down on time dramatically.
You can get ahead by following these easy steps:
- On your PC, to open the cheat box, press [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [C] on your keyboard
- With the cheat console opened, type testingcheats true or testingcheats on
- Then press [Enter]
- After enabling cheats, type in the cheat code cas.fulleditmode
- Click the [ESC] key to exit the cheats window
- Hold [SHIFT] and click on the sims you want to age up
- In the action menu, pick Modify in CAS
- From the CAS screen, you are free to modify your sims however you like, including their age stage, which is what we want.
Age Up in Sims 4 Without Cheat Codes
Besides the above cheat, there are different ways to speed up the aging process.
You don’t necessarily need to wait for your sims to automatically age when it’s their time.
There are a bunch of other options that don’t require this sims 4 age up cheat code.
1. By Baking a Birthday Cake
Yup, you read that right. No need to throw a birthday party; we just need a plain old birthday cake.
You can age your sim by simply having your sim bake any cake, placing birthday candles on top of it, and blowing out the candles.
Note: The sim blowing out the candles will be the one to age.
2. By Changing Your Game Settings
You can shorten the lifespan of your sims, by simply changing the game settings.
You can do this by following these steps:
- Open the Game Menu
- Go to Game Options
- Then select the Gameplay tab on the left
- Change the Sim Lifespan to Short
- Click on Apply Changes
- Return to the game
3. Through a Baby’s Crib
Aging up a baby is so simple. All you need to do is have the baby in its crib.
Click on the crib, go to More Choices, then select the Age Up option, and that’s it. I told you it was easy.
They grow up so fast, don’t they? Sniff sniff.
4. With a Floral Arrangement
If you have Sims 4: Seasons, you can have a gardening career, grow your plants, and make flower arrangements.
As your skill level progresses, you have more options in terms of flowers and scents.
When you reach career skill level 9, you can add the scent of a Death Flower to your arrangement.
Death Flowers are pretty rare, and when added as a scent to your flower pot, this will cause the giftee to age up.
You can make your own death flower, using your gardening skills to graft multiple plants together.
Note: Giving this flower arrangement to an elderly sim is terrible, as it will cause death on that poor sim.
5. Play with a Different Household
If you have multiple households at once, consider switching to them for a while, letting the other households age naturally.
You have to ensure that your game settings allow unplayed sims to age. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Game Menu
- Go to Game Options
- Then select the Gameplay tab on the left
- Check the Auto Age (Unplayed Sim) box
- Click on Apply Changes
- Return to the game
6. Avoid Pregnancy
A sims 4 pregnancy prevents your sim from aging.
Pregnancy essentially stops a pregnant sims aging process until the baby is born.
So, if you plan on aging your sim, avoid any delays, such as pregnancy.
How to Age Down a Sim
Not only can you age up your sims using these tips and tricks, but you can also age them down.
Here are a few ways of getting your sims to become younger.
1. Age Down Using the Sims 4 Age Up Cheat
Yes, using the same cheat to age up can be used to age down.
Okay, so your adult sim has recently aged into becoming elderly, not to worry.
All you have to do is follow the same steps as the sims 4 age up cheat, which are:
- Pop up the cheat box
- Turn cheats on
- Type cas.fulleditmode
- Edit your sim in CAS by shift-clicking on it
You would want to choose one of the younger life stages for your sim this time.
The only exception is you cannot age down a toddler into becoming a baby again.
2. Sims 4 Potion of Youth
When your sim consumes this potion, they will regain their youth, but only for their current life stage.
In this example, your sim simology bar is almost full, meaning your sim will advance to the next life stage.
Your sim Mika is transitioning from teen to young adult.
Drinking this potion will reset the simology bar, meaning Mika is still a teen and will start over the teen stage.
You can find this potion in the rewards store in the Aspiration tab. The potion of youth will cost you 1500 satisfaction points.

3. Sims 4 Essence of Life
You can obtain the Essence of Life through a plant, the Laganaphyllis Simnovorii, better known as the Cow Plant.
To grow your plant, you must find and then plant a cowplant berry. There are several ways to find this rare berry.
The easiest way to find the berry would be fishing in the Forgotten Grotto, located in Oasis Springs.
This carnivorous plant can be “milked” for its essence, but the thing is, before giving up the goods, the plant must first feast on a sim.
If you cherish your sims, you can unlock the essence using the Sims 4 Cheat: Unlock All Items.
Drinking this nectar of life will reset your current simology bar.
4. Sims 4 Age Away Serum
Much like the potion of youth, this serum will reset the current life stage of your sim.
However, this serum is only available if you have the Sims 4: Get to Work expansion pack.
If you have the expansion pack and your sim scientist reaches career level 10, they can create the serum.
You would need the following ingredients to be able to brew it:
- 1x Quill Fruit
- 2x Alien Crystals
- 1x Xenopetrium
How to Age Up Pets in Sims 4
Sims age, but they aren’t the only ones. Pets can age, too! There are a few ways of aging your pets.
1. Using a Cheat Code
You can use the same sims 4 age up cheat for your sims and apply it to your household’s pets.
If your pets are getting old, you could use the cheat the other way and make them younger.
2. With Pet Treats
Depending on the desired effect, you can feed your pets with the Age Up or Age Down Treat.
You can craft the treats you will need using Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medicine Craft-o-Matic machine.
You can buy the machine for 1200 simoleons or find them in vet clinics.
In any case, your sim must have a Veterinarian skill level of 6 to be able to make these special treats.
